Rockstar : une manifestation éclate devant les bureaux du studio après la polémique

À quelques mois de sa sortie, GTA VI et son studio, Rockstar, refont parler d’eux, mais cette fois-ci pas pour un nouveau trailer ou une annonce, non non, bel et bien pour une polémique et une manifestation à leur encontre. Un tel scandale qu’il a même été qualifié comme “l’un des plus flagrants de l’histoire du jeu vidéo à ce jour”.
Rockstar licencie 30
Rockstar fait la une des journaux gaming depuis quelques jours maintenant, mais pas pour la meilleure des raisons. En effet, Jason Schreier, un journaliste américain spécialisé dans le jeu vidéo, a dévoilé aux yeux du grand public ce que Rockstar essayait de cacher. D’après ses sources, le géant du jeu vidéo aurait licencié 30 à 40 employés de ses studios du Royaume-Uni et du Canada car ceux-ci auraient essayé de se syndiquer.
D’après l’Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB), un groupe d’employés membres d’un syndicat discutait dans un salon privé sur Discord. Il s’agissait d’employés syndiqués ou tentant de se syndiquer au sein de Rockstar. Alors selon l’IWGB, cela ne fait aucun doute, cette décision de Rockstar était clairement une manœuvre pour empêcher la syndicalisation de ses travailleurs.
Rockstar répond à la polémique
Évidemment, à la vue de toutes ces accusations, Rockstar ne s’est pas laissé faire et a aussitôt répondu publiquement.
« La semaine dernière, nous avons pris des mesures à l’encontre d’un petit nombre d’individus qui ont été surpris en train de diffuser et de discuter d’informations confidentielles sur un forum public », explique un représentant de Rockstar chez Bloomberg.
« Cela constitue une violation des politiques de notre entreprise. Cela n’était en aucun cas lié au droit des personnes à adhérer à un syndicat ou à participer à des activités syndicales. »
À en croire les dires de Rockstar, ces licenciements sont bel et bien avérés, mais ceux-ci seraient pour “faute grave”, et en l’occurrence, la diffusion d’informations confidentielles du jeu au grand public.
L’appel au boycott de GTA et une manifestation suite à la polémique
Trois jours après le début de la polémique, Rockstar fait déjà face à une manifestation. Ce matin, à 8 h, des protestataires se sont rassemblés devant les bureaux londoniens de Take-Two, la maison mère du studio. Ce mouvement, organisé par le syndicat IWGB, dénonce la volonté de Rockstar d’intimider ses employés pour briser toute tentative de syndicalisation.

Le collectif appelle également au boycott du studio, un mouvement qui commence à gagner du terrain sur les réseaux sociaux, même si certains admettent ne pas pouvoir s’y résoudre.
Alors, reste à savoir si ce faux pas aura un réel impact sur les ventes du jeu le plus attendu de l’histoire.
